SO FINE, SO SUBTLE Artist and photographer Kenshu Shintsubo chronicles the everyday life of Japan, from landscapes and architecture to technology. His perspective is that of an insider viewing his own country and its people incarnating a quiet stillness. But as part of his landscape photography, he has also focused on the tempestuous physicality of nature, documenting Japan transformed by natural disasters, such as earthquakes, landslides, and tsunamis. His intimate portraits of Japan speak about the unsaid, the invisible, and the ineffable.
