MICHÈLE LAMY — Your path as an artist was not a conventional one. How did you arrive at making art and film?

ARTHUR JAFA — My path was never a straight line. There is no map. And even if there was one, I would burn it because nobody should do it that way. My path really started when a friend called me to replace him on a job as a cinematographer. Shortly after, another friend called me to shoot a pilot for a TV show — not what I had ever envisioned for myself, but at the time I felt blessed because it allowed me to make a chunk of money, fast.
