Mathias’s position is to push the boundaries and to demarginalize the practice of drawing by integrating it into the context of contemporary art. He is discretely becoming an artist in his own right, following in the path of master artists like, let’s say, Francis Picabia or Matthew Barney. This is the first interview in which he speaks as an artist to explain his ideas about the medium of drawing.
