Always more than a story, each movie by the cult Danish director explores the darkest aspects of today’s social subconscious. We followed his lead and photo­graphed the 23-year-old model Stacy Martin, whom he cast for his latest film Nymphomaniac, despite the fact that she had no previous acting experience. This traumatic four-hour epic recounts the dysfunctional life of a sex addict named Joe, portrayed from age 15 to 31 by Stacy Martin and as an adult woman by Charlotte Gainsbourg. For Stacy, we deliberately selected a graphic, colorful, and playful Spring / Summer 2014 wardrobe as a contrast to the probing, dark ambiance of Lars von Trier’s psychotic drama.
