Marilyn Minter will be on exhibit at Regan Projects in Los Angeles April 6 through May 11, 2013. In New York, she is represented by Salon 94.

 

Marilyn Minter is a powerhouse of a painter, photographer and filmmaker. She started out brave and never looked back. She was part of a generation that had a painterly sensibility and a punk attitude, and she did her own wild thing. Being a woman didn’t stop her from making art that had balls (and other things considered unsightly by a bizarrely prudish art establishment). But even the shocked and horrified reactions of the art world didn’t stop her. She kept going and let the audience, institutions and collectors catch up. By the time they did, she had developed a powerful vision of glamour and sexuality, degradation…
