Marilyn Minter is a powerhouse of a painter, photographer and filmmaker. She started out brave and never looked back. She was part of a generation that had a painterly sensibility and a punk attitude, and she did her own wild thing. Being a woman didn’t stop her from making art that had balls (and other things considered unsightly by a bizarrely prudish art establishment). But even the shocked and horrified reactions of the art world didn’t stop her. She kept going and let the audience, institutions and collectors catch up.
