A self-described “sexual anthropologist,” Betony Vernon designed her first jewelry collection in 1992, called “Sado-Chic,” and she has since come to be known for her erotically inspiring works in marble and precious metal. Purple photographed her infamous Boudoir Box — a bespoke erotic toolkit that, until recently, could only be viewed privately — during an intimate rendezvous in her home in Paris.

EMILY WELLS — You call yourself a “sexual anthropologist” — how specific to you and your experiences are the items in the box?

BETONY VERNON — Everything that I do is informed by my fascination with human sexual behaviour throughout history. My quest for pleasure is…
