The American artist Louise Lawler went to the apartment of the late designer Yves Saint Laurent to photograph his artwork collection prior to all the works going to auction. The results of the experience are a selection of photographs on view now at Yvon Lambert Paris. Debuting previously unseen images from the apartment, Lawler installs her works both as face mounted images on plexi and as large scale stickers placed directly on the walls of the gallery. Lawler belongs to New York’s iconic Pictures Generation: a group of artists
including Richard Prince, Cindy Sherman and Sherrie Levine who emerged
in the early 1980s and force us to redifine the idea of images and what can be art. Later by Louise Lawler is on view through 15 January 2011 at Yvon Lambert, 108 rue Vieille du Temple, Paris. Text Juliana Balestin
