Artist Will Ryman appropriates Abraham Lincoln’s childhood home as a commentary on American history, growth and consumerism. Ryman’s structure sits in the middle of Paul Kasmin Gallery’s 27th Street space and its materials include a variety of historical and modern day found objects such as chains and bullets. Ryman invites viewers to enter into his golden, intricate cabin atop bullet-proof glass as a reminder of the violence and destruction that often accompanies value shifts and revolution. America is on view through March 30th 2013 at Paul Kasmin, 515 West 27th Street, New York. Photo and text Juliana Balestin
