Artist Tim Hawkinson transforms the natural world and discarded manmade objects into strange hybrids that contemplate the origins of art and possibilities of form. For his latest exhibition, Hawkinson sources local materials from the Los Angeles area to create explosive sculptures that investigate space and shape. To balance the imposing and somber mood of the show, the artist names each of the works after Girl Scout cookies which adds a sense of whimsy and childlike wonder. On view through June 29th 2013 at The Pace Gallery, 508 West 25th Street, New York. Photo and text Juliana Balestin
