The latest installment of the Highline’s public billboard project features artist Raymond Pettibon. The large scale work located on 10th Avenue features a classic baseball theme seen throughout Pettibon’s bodies of work. The artist’s provocative lines and dark colors add a sense of rhythm and vibrancy to the image. Pettibon’s texts that accompany his images often reference song lyrics and literature. In this instance, the artist appropriates the line “Where Brooklyn At” in homage to East Coast versus West Coast freestyle rap battle between Notorious BIG and Tupac Shakur. On view through July 1st 2013 on 10th Avenue and 18th Street, New York. Photo and text Juliana Balestin
