“PALIANYTSIA,” is the Ukrainian artist’s way of raising awarness and denouncing the war happening in Ukrain. Kadyrova’s body of work consists of sculpted stones, embroideries and two documentaries that explain the project. The artist worked with her co-author Denis Ruban to produce the artworks from an old isolated house in western Ukraine they discovered and managed to turn into an workshop. The rocks found in this village reminded the artists of “palianytsia”, meaning bread in english. The stones become a symbol of cultural and territorial resistance, and the embroideries, collected from flea markets in paris, a discourse on the raid of countries and culture.
“PALIANYTSIA,” is on view until August 6th at Galleria Continua, 87 Rue du Temple, 75003 Paris
