The reclusive artist Alex Rose reveals the beauty of decay in his second solo exhibition with Envoy Enterprise. Found imagery is given new intent through the artist’s process of burial and destruction. Rose often takes apart existing works and turns them into new artworks creating an endless cycle of death and rebirth within his practice. Within the gallery, the small scale works placed on the floor and walls reveal the ritual behind imagery and immediately reminds of artist Jeremy Everett who also works with the idea of loss and ruin. Mono No Aware is on view through May 13th 2012 at Envoy Enterprises, 131 Chrystie Street, New York. Photo and text Juliana Balestin
