Published by Editions Faye and Gina, “Free Time” is a book from Spanish illustrator and Paris-based fashion designer Pol Anglada.
A compilation of blue pencil drawings of men from different ages, nude or sometimes wearing fashion garments, the drawings take inspiration from past DIY punk and queer movements. The book is a mix of lust, everyday life, and the naive idea of enclosing male beauty in illustration, much like the queer artists which inspired him such as Tom of Finland, Harry Bush, Jean Cocteau, and Mark Beard. Using the blue distinctly as his preferred color, Pol explains “blue is a color that pushes backwards, it’s soft, melancholic, yet calming.” The title is an ode to the time he had to produce the drawings, free time from his job as a ready-to-wear designer in Paris.
“Free Time” is available to buy online here or in store at Printed Matter NYC and Le Monte-en-l’air Paris.
